Live Performance Training
Lang Bliss brings much more than knowledge and training expertise to his work as a live music producer. He has been a performer since he went on the road professionally at the age of 17 and is still performing regularly as a drummer for other artists as well in his own artistry.
He is constantly helping and teaching other artists, musicians and singers, learn the skills he learned through his extensive study and application.
He truly is a player/coach.
It’s not just theoretical for him; it’s practical and proven.
The Process
After working for a decade with many different artists, Lang began to see a recurring set of common concerns.
Those concerns represent a "disconnect" in the way that performers understand their role on stage.
If you've had some of these thoughts or questions, you've probably also become aware that something different needs to be done.
So think about this:
-
Have you ever worried about what your audience thinks of you while you're performing?
-
Have you ever wondered why they don't respond like you hoped they would?
-
Do you feel like you just don't know what to do onstage?
-
Do you put your set list together 15 minutes before you go on and hope that it works?
-
Do you just hope that the audience likes you?
If you've asked these and other questions, there's hope for you in a totally different approach.
The Way It Started
Lang was trained in live performance when he worked for a company just out of high school and performed an average of 500 shows a year. He traveled with that company for 4 years, performing approximately 2000 shows in the US, Canada and Australia.
This was the training ground that gave him much of the experience he gained before moving to Nashville and playing professionally for major label recording artists which he's done for the past 30 years.
Lang truly is a player/coach and for a period of 8 years, he worked as a Certified Live Music Producer with Tom Jackson Productions before branching out on his own. His work includes everyone from weekend warrior artists, to the Armed Services, to those who have sold millions of records and written numerous #1 hits, including The Tenors, Icon For Hire, Sidewalk Prophets, The Henningsens, Francesca Battistelli, Newsong, Russ Taff, Wayne Watson, Clay Crosse, Jason Castro, Fairview Union, and many others. He's taught at the music schools of Belmont University, Delta State University, University of North Alabama, as well as many music conferences and events, including GMA Immerse.

Here's what some of Lang's clients have said about working with him:
"Lang is in his element as a coach to help bring out the best in your band and communicate and connect with your congregation. He uses Artist/Audience Communication Concepts and creatively coaches your band to increase their effectiveness. I learned a lot from this method, and use it often when leading worship or teaching."
Roger O'Neel, Ph.D.
Professor of Worship
Director-Worship Program
Music and Worship

"Working with Lang was a breath of fresh air for the band! Not only did he bring a new perspective to our show, he encouraged and motivated us to focus on loving our audience with every decision we make. I can't recommend him highly enough."
SFC David Morrill 101st Army Band
“Working with Lang was an eye-opening experience. It shifted my perspective on live performance and truly allowed me to zero in on the tools needed to thrive in a live environment. You instantly saw the difference within days, and it shifted the way my brain processed approaching live. Honestly. These are life changing sessions which every musician who is looking to be serious about tackling live should invest in.
Much Love for the guidance and wisdom.”
Sivers Tha Third
Barbadian Recording Hip Hop Artist
"The way he can take a song and totally transform it from something that sounds "good" to something that sounds incredible and is exciting to watch, is absolutely amazing!"
CW 4 Terry Beckler, 147th Army Band
"We were a solid club band before we hired Lang. In 2015 we had him come work with us for 2 full rehearsal days. We came in a club band and left a pro concert band with a whole new and forever changed perspective on how to entertain an audience. If you want to go to the next level, hiring Lang is the final step, *period*.
Chad Lee Wilson, The Fairview Union
“Lang redefined the concept of live performance for me.
From the initial conversation (I) had with Lang when we started on day one (of our three days of coaching) I knew that he has been an expert in the field for many years and has some timeless knowledge when it comes to live performance.
I was completely blown away when he started to explain the finer details and the fact that he had our whole performance from movements and expressions analyzed and advice on how to improve on each step with each while catering to each of our abilities.
Lang had the whole show down to a science explaining how our set list had to work, helped us with even some of the reproduction of the songs for being more impactful for our set and explained the timing and reasoning behind numerous elements of the show from crowd reaction to building a sentimental moment.
Live shows always felt like a very complicated game that I never understood how to win and being trained by Lang was like being given a step by step of the rules and being given all the tools to be able to win every time without fail once you stick to the plan.
10/10 definitely would recommend!”
Ritchie “Mixy” Greaves
Videographer, Music Producer, Sound Engineer and Songwriter
"Working with Lang was a great experience. His instincts were spot on, and he shares his knowledge in such a helpful, creative way. I honestly can’t imagine preparing for another tour without him!”
Francesca Battistelli, Dove Award Winner
“We worked on our show with Lang in preparation for a private showcase for a major Nashville label. We had a great time custom designing our show and working on arrangements with Lang. His advice was a real help! Oh, by the way… we got the record deal!”
Brian Henningsen, The Henningsens, Sony Records Nashville
"Lang Bliss’ wealth of knowledge, wisdom and insight into performance arts and production is astounding! And what comes out even stronger is his heart for God and for His people to connect with Him in the modern congregational worship experience. He so beautifully blended together the heart of worship and our role on platform to lead people and communicate with them to connect with God in Worship. His teachings applied in so many ways on how to improve our delivery as a team and think differently about how to lead worship with a higher degree of excellence. He expanded our perspective on the performing arts and the impact of his teaching will be a benefit to our team for years to come. Lifegate loves Lang!"
Jake Adams – Pastor of Worship and Production, Lifegate Church
“How blessed I am our paths met! Working with Lang was life changing. In 2 hours, he broke through barriers that have held me back for years. I can’t describe how much confidence I gained.”
Steve Doan, Gospel artist, Cheyenne Records Label
